One thing is for sure, there is no shortage of satisfying comfort food in the Tennessee Smokies. Throughout the region, old fashioned Southern-inspired dishes—from buttermilk biscuits with gravy and country ham to fried chicken and catfish—fill restaurant menus. Here you will discover family-style dining is a way of life, and the restaurants offer a variety of foods that please all kinds of palates.
Another truth about the Smokies is delicious food and great entertainment go hand in hand. Certainly known for its theatrical shows, live music and other fun activities, the region offers endless opportunities to enjoy a culinary “experience.”

Barbecue joints are commonplace in the Tennessee Smokies. Flavorful pulled pork and smoked ribs in zesty sauces are prevalent entrée options. Steaks, burgers and meat-stacked sandwiches also fill menu pages. Not to be out done, delectable side dishes are just as amazing—from sweet cornbread and creamy macaroni and cheese to tangy coleslaw and mashed potatoes. And, of course, beans! During your visit, set aside some time to explore the Bush’s Visitor Center, which features a café, general store and a museum. Located in Dandridge, this is an interesting destination where visitors can learn about the family-owned company’s interesting history, dating all the way back to 1908, and its significant role in the area’s local heritage. At Bush’s Family Café, enjoy a warm bowl of chili, a down-home deli sandwich or one of its scrumptious desserts. Be sure to try the popular Bush’s Pinto Bean Pecan Pie or Chocolate Pinto Bean Pecan Pie.
Top-Notch Entertainment
Classic Southern recipes combined with inviting Southern hospitality, plus exciting events, makes for an exceptional experience. In the Smokies, entertainment comes in many forms.
Taking advantage of a dinner show—such as a Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Attraction, the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud or a Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge—is a must-do while visiting the Tennessee Smokies. Having a memorable feast while viewing a live performance surely makes for a good time.
Furthermore, in recent years country music stars have opened restaurants and bars in the Tennessee Smokies, garnering it a nickname of Nashville East. Be sure to check out live musical performances while in town.
With more of a gaming focus, Dave & Buster’s Sevierville offers the whole family an outing full of fun.
