Gatlinburg Breaks World Record for Most Scarecrows
Gatlinburg has broken the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Display of Scarecrows.” The City of Gatlinburg needed over 3,812 scarecrows to beat the record previously held by the National Forest Adventure Farm in England.
On Monday, Oct. 14, Gatlinburg beat the record with 4,325 scarecrows during a celebration of the annual Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival. The total number of scarecrows is more than Gatlinburg’s population.
“With so much scenic beauty and festivities to take part in every year, Gatlinburg’s harvest season is always an exciting time to visit, and this year’s Guinness World Record will only add to that tradition,” said Marci Claude, public relations manager for Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Locals and visitors alike can see the thousands of life-sized scarecrows along downtown Gatlinburg until Nov. 21 when the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival ends. Handcrafted scarecrows, along with harvest vignettes, can be found at the Great Smoky Mountains Arts and Crafts Community as part of the Scarecrow Trail.
The record attempt was recorded on video and will need to be verified by Guinness World Records.
