Shop Tax Free in the Tennessee Smokies

Every year, the state of Tennessee gives shoppers a chance to save some money by shopping tax free. The Tennessee Sales Tax Weekend takes place July 25-27, 2025. The tax-free weekend is the perfect chance for shoppers to purchase an array of items without paying a sales tax.
Tennessee Tax Free Weekend
According to the Tennessee Department of Revenue, shoppers all across the state of Tennessee can save 10 percent or more on over 150 different types of items. Everything from apparel and accessories to computers, houseware and more will be free of sales tax. This includes clothing and school supplies less than $100 and computers under $1,500.

No matter where you are in Tennessee, you can take advantage of the Sales Tax Holiday. If you’re visiting the Tennessee Smokies, in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Townsend and more, during this weekend, head to local shops for some tax-free shopping.
Gatlinburg is home to several malls and plazas, where you’ll discover one-of-a-kind shops that shape the character of the surrounding Smoky Mountains. Not only does Pigeon Forge have a massive outlet mall, there are also plenty of villages and quaint shops where you will find custom made products, fine jewelry, art galleries, vinyl records and much more.
Sevierville has a popular shopping mall as well as lots of small retail areas which are home to a variety of stores and services, from clothing to hair salons. If you are searching for Smoky Mountains’ goodies and gifts, then head over to Townsend where you will find a plethora of locally owned shops offering a variety of unique items with that special Smokies touch.
Wherever you decide to go near the Tennessee Smoky Mountains, shopping here is a fun and exciting adventure, and one of the reasons people find themselves coming back again and again.
Find all of your outdoor apparel essentials at GSM Outfitters in Sevierville. In town you’ll also find Smoky Mountain Knife Works, the world’s largest knife store. All of the shops within the Tanger Outlets will be tax free as well. Shop hundreds of brand-name and designer outlet stores that are already at a discount.
