Whether you want to ski in the winter or make a splash at a water park, you can find it all in the Gatlinburg area. Things to Do at Ober Gatlinburg

A must-visit when you come to Gatlinburg is Ober Mountain. Brimming with activities and attractions for all ages, year-round, there’s so much to do here. This mountain-top attraction is not just a ski and snowboard destination in Gatlinburg, but also an amusement park with plenty to do.

Winter and fall are the best time of year to visit the area. Fall showcases mesmerizing views of the scenery as the leaves begin to change. When the temperature really drops, visit Ober Mountain, Tennessee’s top-rated ski, snowboard and snow tubing destination.

Ski/snowboard season begins in mid-December and lasts until mid-March. Novice skiers and snowboarders should take advantage of the lessons available, while those who are more advance will love the conditions on the mountain provided by Ober Mountain’s snow making.

Spend your spring break or summer vacation at Ober Mountain. Race a friend down the 1,800-foot-long Alpine Slide or face breathtaking speeds along the Mountain Coaster. The warm weather is also the perfect time of year to try out the new rock wall, get lost in the Amaze’N Maze or have some fun on the rides and slides at Kiddie Land.

No matter what time of year you visit, you’ll want to take in the spectacular views from the Scenic Chairlift. Ober Mountain also feature the Wildlife Encounter where you can meet native wildlife, including black bears, river otters, birds and more.

Ober Mountain also hosts a number of events year-round, including OktOBERfest, MayFest, Saturdays in Summer and more to celebrate the holiday season.

Ober Mountain Restaurants

While there are plenty of restaurants near Ober Mountain, you won’t need to leave the mountain to eat. Ober Gatlinburg has two main restaurants and other eateries that can satisfy any appetite.

Perfect for the whole family, Seasons of Ober Mountain features traditional fare from a seasonally inspired menu. Enjoy hand-cut steaks, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, Southern favorites and more. As you dine, take in the fantastic views of Ober Mountain and the Smoky Mountains from the restaurant’s large windows. Seasons of Ober Mountain also features a stage and dance floor, perfect for listening and dancing to one of the live performances.

Ober Gatlinburg restaurants

The Loft Lounge at Ober Mountain offers the best selection of beer and spirits in the area. Unwind with a cold craft beer, a cocktail made with top-shelf spirits or a glass of wine. In addition to beer, wine and spirits, The Loft also serves bar bites, including chicken wings, fried green tomatoes, cheese sticks and other shareable appetizers and snacks.

You can find burgers, pizza and more at the Sidewalk Café, or browse the array of food offerings at The Market. When it’s time for dessert, try a piece of homemade fudge from the Fudge Shop.

Shopping at Ober Mountain

If your idea of adventure involves a little retail therapy, visit the shops at Ober Mountain. There are several shops on-site at Ober Mountain. Before you hit the slopes, find everything you need for outdoor fun at Ski Mountain Sports. Shop apparel, souvenirs and more at Slopeside Apparel & Gifts and Galleria Gift Shop. The kids can find plenty to keep them amused at O’Bears Playhouse. Ober Gatlinburg also has The Leather Shop, Beer Necessities and Family Crest where you can find a one-of-a-kind item.

Ober Mountain Tickets

Ober Mountain offers guests seasonal wristbands that cover a range of activities. There are also non-wristband activities and attraction tickets available for purchase. Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing are not covered with a wristband and have an additional fee.

Wristband

The wristband covers an array of seasonal activities. Basic wristbands are $39 for adults and $35 for children ages 5–11. Ober Mountain wristbands provide unlimited use of for the select activities and attractions.

AAA and AARP members can earn a discount on Aerial Tram tickets.

Active duty and retired military and their families can also receive discounts on Aerial Tram tickets, ski tickets and ski equipment rentals.

Ober Mountain is located at 1001 Parkway, Gatlinburg, in downtown Gatlinburg.

Getting to Ober Mountain

There are two ways to get to Ober Mountain. Drive up Ski Mountain Road or take the convenient tram.

Driving is only open to vehicles with 4-wheel drive and/or drive chains. Parking is limited and cost $5 per standard vehicle.

Riding the tram is the easiest way to get to Ober Mountain, and showcases fantastic views of the area. Parking near the tram is $5 per standard vehicle.

Ober Mountain is located right off the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg. Those staying in a hotel in downtown Gatlinburg can walk to the tramway or take the trolley.

Ober Mountain is open seven days a week, year-round. Ober Mountain’s hours vary depending on the activity and attraction. Hours are subject to change due to weather conditions. Visit OberGatlinburg.com for weekly operating hours.
