Winter Sports at Ober Gatlinburg

Located near the base of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Ober Mountain (formerly Ober Gatlinburg) is the only ski resort in Tennessee. A year-round attraction, Ober Mountain offers plenty to do during winter. Ober Mountain is a top-rated ski, snowboard and snow tubing destination.

Ski/snowboard season begins in mid-December and lasts until mid-March. Novice skiers and snowboarders should take advantage of the lessons available, while those who are more advance will love the conditions on the mountain provided by Ober Mountain’s snow making.

Ober Mountain offers skiers and snowboarders more options for shredding on the Ober Mountain Freestyle Terrain Park. The Freestyle Terrain Park features several rails and boxes, along with tabletops and spines. The park is the sight of a number of events throughout the year, including signature competitions.

Ober Mountain’s snow tubing park is open from late November until early April. Children as young as 3 will be able to enjoy this popular winter activity. A “magic carpet” escalator takes riders to the top of the mountain. From there, guests can race down one of the 10 lanes available on the 400-foot hill.

Visit Ober Gatlinburg during one of the themed ski/snowboard events, including Ladies Nights on the Slopes, College Nights on the Slopes and Church on the Slopes.
