What’s New for 2019 in the Tennessee Smokies

Here’s what new attractions and activities you can find in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge this year.

Take a Walk across the SkyBridge

Gatlinburg’s newest locale to take in the fantastic vistas is located within an already popular attraction. From the top of the Gatlinburg SkyLift, walk across the new SkyBridge. The SkyBridge will be the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, stretching 680 feet. The bridge features a glass bottom at its highest point giving you not only panoramic views, but a look 140 feet down into the valley.

Blake Shelton Introduces Gatlinburg to Ole Red

In March, Ole Red, a new restaurant and entertainment venue, opened in Gatlinburg. Named after owner and country music singer Blake Shelton’s hit song “Ol’ Red,” the restaurant is the perfect hangout for those looking to enjoy Blake-approved cocktails, food and live music.

The Lumberjacks are Back

Watch as real lumberjacks compete in Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud. This family-friendly show and interactive adventure features 11 lumberjack events, performed by champion lumberjacks, in a high-energy show. Along with the competition, guests can compete in their own lumberjack competition with simulated events, including interactive activities just for kids.

Set Sail for Dolly Parton’s Pirate Voyage

Tennessee Smokies native Dolly Parton, who already has a host of shows in the area, opens a new pirate-themed adventure show. Dolly’s newest Pigeon Forge dinner show, Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, features acrobatic pirates, diving mermaids and a four-course feast.

Dollywood Expands with New Area

In other Dolly-related news, Dollywood, the family amusement park in Pigeon Forge, completed its largest expansion in ahead of the 2019 season. Wildwood Grove, the park’s newest area, takes guests into a magical land. Among the charming village, shimmering streams and wooded forest are new rides, attractions and play areas.
