Throughout the year, locals and visitors stay entertained with the numerous events happening in the Tennessee Smokies. While Townsend, located in a scenic mountain valley outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is considered the “Peaceful Side of the Smokies,” this town keeps busy. Along with the area’s plentiful recreational activities and charming shops, the community hosts fun, unique events throughout the seasons. Be sure to mark your calendar for these upcoming festivals.
April 19-22: Bronco Super Celebration
Don’t miss this annual bronco enthusiast multi-day festival, which is full of activities, awards and giveaways. Townsend Visitors Center
April 27-29: Smokey Mountain Street Dreams
Check out this cool car and motorcycle show, including street cars, antiques, motorcycles, prize drawings and much more! Townsend Visitors Center
May 6: Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival
Attend this interesting annual event with guest speakers, competitions, live music, vendors and more. Townsend Visitors Center
May 20-21: Smoky Mountain Scottish Festival and Games
Come celebrate Scottish heritage in the Smokies at this 42nd annual event, including a variety of music, dancing, pipes and drums, competitions, and food and drink. Townsend Visitors Center
June 2-3: Smoky Mountain Nationals
Enjoy this truck show, featuring Chevy and GMC trucks from 1947 to 1955, and parkway cruise, plus enjoy local mountain and bluegrass music. Talley Ho Inn
July 4: 4th of July Fireworks
Join 4th of July festivities at this family-friendly event, which will include live music, face painting, food and fireworks. Highland Manor Inn & Conference Center
Aug. 18: Great Smoky Mountain Hot Air Balloon Festival
Watch the colorful hot air balloons light up the sky at this popular event, including live entertainment, fun activities, vendors and much more. Townsend Visitors Center
