Experience Techno-Tainment™ at Beyond the Lens
By Arielle Patterson
A trip to the Smoky Mountains is sure to be filled with one-of-a-kind experiences in an outdoor setting. If the weather isn’t cooperating or you want to bring the fun indoors, there’s no better place than Beyond the Lens.
Technology meets entertainment at Beyond the Lens in Pigeon Forge, resulting in innovative “Techno-Tainment™,” explains director of operations for Beyond the Lens, Larry Foster.
Boasting over 150 interactive exhibits, Foster says that Beyond the Lens is perfect for all ages “from 4 years old to 94 years old.” Exhibits are constantly changing to keep up with the latest trends in technology and pop culture.
Compete as a contestant on your favorite game show or dance your way through the decades. Parents can share their love for retro video games from the ‘60s with their kids and teens. There’s also a Selfie Gallery for the ultimate photo opportunities, a shooting gallery where you can hunt for Big Foot and a space-themed ball pit. Beyond the Lens’ exhibits bridge generational gaps, so there’s truly something for every member of the family.
“The grandparents get a big kick out of watching their grandchildren or their kids try to dial a phone number on a rotary phone,” Foster jokes.
Foster shares that the virtual reality experiences are some of the most popular at Beyond the Lens. Design your own roller coaster then take a virtual ride filled with twists, turns and simulated drops, or feel like you’re walking on a balance beam that’s 60-stories high.
“We give people a chance to do things they normally wouldn’t get a chance to do. For example, jeep rides through the jungle and being chased by dinosaurs,” he says.
New for 2022, Beyond the Lens introduces FlyRide®, a fully immersive ride that guides passengers through more than 20 of America’s most breathtaking national landmarks. Soar through the Grand Canyon and over the Statue of Liberty, feel the mist of rushing whitewater rapids and get a bird’s-eye view of the Las Vegas Strip.
Beyond the Lens’ newest gallery, Techno-Sports, puts visitors in the shoes of some of the greatest athletes of all time and gives them the chance to experience training and games, according to Foster.
Get behind the wheel of a 200 mph racecar on an augmented reality racetrack or test your agility with baseball, football and basketball challenges.
These are just some of the thrilling, family-friendly experiences possible at Beyond the Lens in Pigeon Forge.
“With our reviews, probably the number one thing that we hear is ‘wow we did not expect all of this inside the building,’” shares Foster.
