Get a Taste of Germany in Gatlinburg
There’s never a bad time of year to visit Gatlinburg. Located in the mountain town is Ober Gatlinburg, a year-round outdoor adventure park. Ober Gatlinburg offers so much to see and do through all four seasons, but fall is especially festive thanks to Oktoberfest.
Oktoberfest is Ober Gatlinburg’s fall festival. From Sept. 27–Nov. 3, get a taste of German culture right here in Gatlinburg. The 10th annual OktOBERfest celebrates the traditions of the original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. The festival will feature family-friendly activities, authentic food and plenty of beer.
Things to Do at Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest offers something to do for all ages and interests. Children will love the outdoor games and free face painting. You also won’t want to miss live performances from the Smoky Mountain Oompah Band. This band will be dressed in authentic lederhosen and perform Bavarian folk dances, oompah music, yodels and more. Performances are daily.
It wouldn’t be a celebration without the right food. Get a taste of German-inspired fare derived from traditional Bavarian recipes. Enjoy schnitzel, bratwurst, strudel, turkey legs, pretzels, sauerkraut and much more. Seasons of Ober Restaurant will transform their menu for Oktoberfest.
A key part of Oktoberfest is the beer. Ober Gatlinburg will have an outdoor Bier Garten set up. There, festival goers age 21 and older can sample each weekend’s featured brewery. The Bier Garten will be open from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Noon–6 p.m. on Sundays.
After enjoying everything Oktoberfest has to offer, be sure to explore the rest of the park. Ober Gatlinburg has so much to see and do, including the new Ski Mountain Coaster, indoor ice skating rink, Wildlife Encounter and much more.
